Restoration of Iconic Creche Figures 2007 photos and notes

The Images - before, during and after - are related to the restoration of an iconic group of Nativity Figures - part of Vernon Connecticut's Saint Bernard Church's Christmas for over 50 years. For the Restoration Story, click here. The early fiberglass BLO-MOLD Nativity figures, created c.1939-42, were restored by Elle Fagan and the Church team in 2007. Upon learning they were American icons, the project got fancier. Careful provenance was followed by permissions, technical study, materials and six months of careful process - cleaning, repairing, priming , repainting, and sealing for beauty and durability.
