Film & Video

Born in 1947, I share Television's birthday. And half of the thirteen amazing channels were MOVEEES!  We enriched our lives and knowledge with period films, biopics, cultural icons, and glamor and would wait the months and sometimes years when a movie we could not catch at the local theater finally was released for tv viewing.  A happy busy normal child , one year I was "in" with a health thing and I rested, did schoolwork to stay in my front row seat ... and watched movies!  I became the film trivia expert and though it seemed to NOT take much of my life's balance , I gathered quite a collection of memories and enhancing experiences and lots of entertainment:  dreams for my coming of age fantasies; ideas for my goals;  support for integrity and passion and patriotism and family life and so much more!   My own family was grand and it was fun to see ones I could relate to, copied on screen.  YES.    My son grew up to obtain his first degree in film and video and help with news media online startups and still consults - most of it before I had many grey hairs.  Film has value, power and responsibility and I hope to share some favorite factoids and fun things about it here.

1939 in Film - Spectacular

Said to be the Greatest ONE year in Film History, I say that the image above is Scarlett AS the Muse of Film, surrounded by the many top quality films that year - her many beaux! A great list of unbelievable number of films we run to even today - some were re-releases later to win their due of awards, since GWTW eclipsed the rest. For example, the iconic "Affair to Remember" was first released as "Love Affair" in 1939 by the same Director, Leo McCarey.  He never gave up on his love story though it could not outdo Rhett and Scarlett for an Oscar in 1939 ...it did just fine when he did it over later.  List of the mind-boggling winners that were ALL released in 1939 at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1939_in_film
