American Green Beret 1967
My brother - I am surprized I was able to capture his goodnes, sorrow, dutiful love of country, desire to “do ‘em proud” and determination. Some days! All the days before and since were easier and happier but none so intense in the life dynamic. The day he and my new husband were both home service duty done and in good health and still loving us - there is MY happiest day.
Rick-pa-tick
A fun thing I did for my family about my Brother. Mother loved the memories I shared - what fun this life!
Spring ! American Robin c.2004
7x11inches watercolor on paper. Our merry state bird in Connecticut - also Wisconsin and Michigan - click here for the complete list https://www.insider.com/every-states-official-state-bird-2018-12#washington-dc-wood-thrush-9
The Robin flew to the Blessed Virgin Mary that first Christmas Eve, when she called - the night was cold, Joseph was on an errand and the Infant was in danger because the warming fire was going out. The little bird flew to the embers and threw twigs and leaves on it and flapped its wings frantially till the fire rekindled - so close to that flame that its breast feathers were singed. Mary praised him and promised that Robins would be the redbreast we know even today, as a badge of honor for his brave deed!
Round things!
Fun when Lord of the Rings first found us in 2001 - hobbits like round things. 5x7inches watercolor on paper.
Crown of Thorns
5x7inches. c.2005. Named for the religious symbolism, it is nevertheless a beautiful plant - sturdy and long-lived - I think it blooms at Easter time..not sure.
Sampler: What we are/what we become
A woman friend gave this to me, in a kit form to emboider, post-partum - something easy. It became important to me and still is.
8x8” linen and embroidery floss.
Mother Teresa
We did this up and have shared it well and hope to do more with it. It is worthy. 10x14inchess watercolor on paper.
When I was a girl, no one knew there was an Albania, and even when they learned better, they would make jokes because my Mother’s name, Albina sounded fun as “Albina’s Albanians” - referring to the family next door - most honored and lovely, we squelched the whole thing, in respect and love. Only now when they are all in heaven having fun is it ok to have fun with the memory- one of many happy ones on that block, in the day.
Saint Bernard reigns
This image of a statue does reign over the main doors of Saint Bernard’s Church in Rockville Connecticut.
5x7 Watercolor 2003
Pelican Altar St. Bernard Church Rockille, Connecticut
When the Church ujpdated it’s main altar for the modern orientation facing the people, the old main altar was taken apart and its best features were reassembled to act as side altar and Tabernacle for the Holy Eucharist, with the Sanctuary lamp hanging on eternal guard .
The Pelican is a Jesus symbol or a general symbol of loving sacrifice. The Pelican mother will pierce her own side and feed her babies on her blood if food is not available and death is near unless…. And so you may find yourself enhanced by a good search. online for other Pelican Altars - and other places that use the symbol.

The arts center there is a grand restoration of the old Post Office that sat at the town hub. It provides a center for many well-known artists and when we do still life artwork workshops someone brings in something for us to draw and paint or sculpt.
This is actually a coyote, but I had a death in family and was looking for things to cheer me - I licked my brushes - with impunity - and made this funny painting. Enjoy!
Saint Patrick Driving the Snakes from Ireland

Unicorn 2003
1990s an icon from Wellcome days - the unicorn was their logo and cause for healing arts.
White Sun - Yellow Sky
I could be a bit fey at early puberty, and saw my husband-to-be and our son and daughter in dreams and they came true. This is how I knew we had a firstborn son….the light trick that happens when a blizzard skews the sun’s colors. I had to painti it right. away and never forgot it.
Santa and Mrs
I was set up in a lovely bungalow of my own to recover from an accident and most of what is in that image was my view of my own things, and imagined this story as I found lots of left-handed blessings in those days.
Rockvill bank original core building in Rockville Center
One of America’s older banks, the main office today left most of htis building as its foudation and constructed a modern overcoat to blend in with the new sections. But if you peer into the nooks and crannies on the outside, you can spot some of this famous old bank, still there.
Seagull 2010
Painting on the beach on a very hot day, thanking goodness for my years in the south where the beaches were hotter, the image was just fine, but a perspiring friend really resented my blythe way with that heat….”That doesn’t even look like a seagull” he grumled. but people have liked it and this one sold long ago.
Saudi Angel
I worked with children’s groups and raised my own and images like this were made by me to help. The mother of a deployed marine found me to let me know how much that helped her little ones to understand that Daddy was not abandoned in danger.
Sketch right after the accident -
data for a psychiatrist that day….watchig out for Nurse Ratched but all my carers were the BEST. Lucky me. The marks in the sketch are not my normal sunny stuff.
Spiss-getty and meatballs 1950
Another early sketch from that series - the dim memory of jolly times was still very real.
Rockville
Next to the church one of many very large repurposed homes. At the turn of the last century, it was one of the wealthiest of towns with booming textile manufacturing, and when things changed, these mansions did just fine to accommodate the new lives there.
A very special Christmas Star
…in many ways. It is the illustration of a shared familty story, and special also because it is an image of a “famous” Constructed crunched foil star that brought crowds past our home in the fities and early sixties! And also special because it is among my first graphic projects done a a new idea called photoshop at Y2K.
Yellow wildflower
I was in braces under my clothes and it made my light watercolor hand ride the paper too hard, but sometimes the results were more exciting, so I decided to tell the story, I should save some of these that show the strain.
Red Osier Dogwood !!
A normal shrub and tree in summer, the brances will go a deep red in winter and everyone loves them. I will do up some of the better ones now that I can.
What a rocking chair is for 2022
We do NOT plunk in a rocker today - mobility is life.
But a rocking chair is still pretty and a nice place to toss things artfully for enhancement of a place.
Pumpkin and Squash
I love painting these - the colors are a very nice thing! Happy Harvest Days!
Holiday Window in Rockville Connecticut
The Central Park area in Rockville a Rennaissance - complete makeover with refreshed buildings, plantings trees and shops - this one was empty and so we did art to make is nice to see at the Winter Holidays.
Tomatoz
An experiment with color that is till iffy with me. But I learned to share it anyway because I thought, “ just because it is not my usual thing does not mean that it is not good I will include it. And someone might want it.”
