It was Nineleven 2001 and Response workers were everywhere.

One of them noticed a flag was hanging on the pole of a yacht moored at a small marina just west of Lower Manhattan on the morning of the World Trade Center attacks. Calling to two others, they got busy and Dan McWilliams, George Johnson and Billy Eisengrein removed it, then raised it above the rubble.

Franklin, a photographer for the Record newspaper in Bergen County, N.J., quite by accident, captured the image that became instantly famous, till this day!
