Miniature “Memorial Building” 4x5in
A Study for a commissioned portrait of this historic site - in Vernon Rockville Connecticut the Grand Army of the Republic was a Civil War Memorial Group founded to archive data, and memorabilia and to honor all the actions and those who served and care for them as needed, as well. At one time every town had a GAR building, but as the veterans passed away, the number of headquarters diminished, until only a few remain, nationwide, but enjoy the highest honors in their communities. This is one of them! I have made commissioned paintings and casual sketches and this miniature is a dear and easy to have around.
